Ericka's workshops are both participatory and interactive, usually tailored to what students are most activated around in the interest of making it actionable and to leave them with tangible ways to make a difference in their organizations, work spaces and the communities they navigate.
Ericka (she/they) has been teaching comprehensive, trauma informed, consent and pleasure based sex-ed from an anti racist, queer lens at the elementary, high school, undergraduate and graduate level for the past 14 years and is currently an adjunct professor teaching human sexuality at Widener University following 4 years as a professor at Columbia University’s School of Social Work. Her work began as a Health Educator with a community–based organization in East Harlem and to date she has taught in all 5 boroughs and several states across the country. Ericka has extensive training in curriculum development and youth-development, including with the Global Community Charter School in Harlem and 3 years as the primary sexuality educator focusing on a full range of topics from anatomy to gender for grades 1-5 at La Cima Elementary Charter in Bedstuy; Unity Prep in Brownsville Brooklyn; East Side Community High School; Essex Street Academy; Lower East Side College Charter Prep; La Salle Academy; Intermediate school 7 and more.
Ericka challenges audiences to rethink pleasure, consent, and power through an anti-racist, trauma-informed lens. They’ve been featured in Vogue, Elle, Refinery29, and TEDx, and have collaborated with brands like Chromat, Hinge and Nordstrom.
